Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make payments?
You may remit your payment and plea by mail or bring cash to the Court Clerk. A cashier check or a money order should be made payable to Centreville Municipal Court. We are unable to accept personal checks.

What if I am unable to make my court date?
Cases are not continued except for good and sufficient cause. If you are hospitalized or have a physician written medical excuse you may be excused BEFORE your court date. ​Other reasons must be submitted to and approved by the Court Judge prior to excusal. Only the Judge has the authority to excuse you from Court.

What happens if I miss a court date?
If you have not obtained an excused absence prior to your scheduled court date you may have an arrest warrant issued for failure to appear. If you accidentally miss a court date contact the court clerk at once to avoid having an FTA warrant issued. If you have no other missed court dates and can show good reason why you were absent you may be able to obtain an extension.

When is my court date?
Municipal Court is convened at the Bibb County Court House, 2nd floor, on the First Monday of Each Month at 5:00 p.m. unless the first Monday is a National Holiday. Contact the court clerk for an alternate date if it is a published National Holiday.

The Court does not mail court notices to Defendants or to Attorneys. It is your responsibility to keep up with your court date.
